AnDroid-Maker Motorola Pushes iPhone in Customer Satisfaction

Summary
The manufacturer of a number of popular Droid smartphones got “very
satisfied" ratings from 71 percent of owners, coming closer to iPhone
territory than anyone has dared to tread in previous ChangeWave
surveys
When asked which they would’ve purchased – an iPhone or their Motorola
phone – if the iPhone had been available on their wireless network, 39
percent stuck with their Moto, but almost as many, 37 percent, said
the iPhone. Twenty percent were undecided.
Only 63 percent of HTC smartphone owners were “very satisfied" with
their choice; far worse were Samsung (45 percent) and BlackBerry (44
percent).

Android Phone Coming - Look like Droid Pro is best ever Business phone

DROID PRO by Motorola - The DROID PRO is the ultimate phone for
productivity. The pocket-sized mobile office is powered by the lastest
Android 2.2 operating system, comes equipped with an ultra-fast 1GHz
processor for faster upload and download speeds and has built-in
mobile hotspot capability that allows up to five Wi-Fi equipped
devices to simultaneously connect to the Verizon Wireless network. The
QuickOffice Mobile Suite gives users the capability to edit documents
right from the phone and draft quick messages with ease using the full
QWERTY keyboard.

Motorola's Droid Pro is a model of businesslike simplicity. A hard
keyboard sits underneath a good-enough 3.1-in. display with
320-by-480-pixel resolution. The interface is straight-ahead Android
2.2, with Motorola's usual modest ability to integrate social
networking services Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. And the phone's
Exchange support (with encryption coming in early 2011, Motorola says)
is fully integrated.

The Droid Pro isn't a physical lightweight. There's no slide-out
keyboard or other tricky frippery. It's about the same height and
width (4.7 by 2.4 in.) as an iPhone. At 4.7 oz., it's roughly the same
weight as well, but at about four-tenths of an inch thick, it's
somewhat thicker -- that's at least partly due to its SIM card.

Battery life is a bit of a problem, as it is with most Android phones.
The Droid Pro will make it to the end of the day on its stock 1420 mAh
battery if you're careful. You will almost certainly want the
extended-life 1860 mAh battery ($50; available in a few weeks),
especially if you use the wireless tethering feature. Also, there's a
feature that locks the phone when you drop it into your pocket. It's
neat and elegant and will save power without your needing to remember
to lock the phone yourself.

At a Glance
Droid Pro
Motorola Inc.
Price: $179.99, after a $100 rebate with a two-year activation and a data plan
Pros: Can be used internationally. Robust Exchange support.
Straightforward design and operating system, with no unneeded frills.
Cons: Short battery life. Keyboard is a little cramped. Soft keyboard
doesn't include Swype.

Android handphone coming - Samsung Continuum Android phone with two OLED

Summary

We were eager to try out the new "ticker" display, a 1.8-inch AMOLED
panel placed below the primary display and soft buttons. While the
primary display requires a button press and a finger slide to unlock,
users can simply place a finger on the bottom right side of the
handset to bring up the ticker display. Swiping the ticker display
quickly moves to the notifications bar. RSS feeds, finance
information, social networking updates, or sports statistics.

Like the rest of the lineup, the Continuum's AMOLED panels are
arguably the most attract displays among mobile devices.

Samsung's Galaxy S line of Android-powered smart phones has been a
smashing success, even without a champion at Verizon Wireless. As
Verizon said today, in a press announcement, "By touching the bottom
sides of the device, the ticker display lights up to give users
real-time weather, social networking services (SNS), message, IM and
e-mail notification updates."

Today Verizon formally launched Continuum, its long-awaited Galaxy S,
promising to ship on Nov. 11 for $199.99 (with two-year contract and a
$100 mail-in rebate).

Do you know that Android is Three?

November 2007
Google introduces Android for the first time, emphasizing its
emergence as the first open platform for smartphones on the market.

August 2008
The platform’s answer to the App Store, the Android Market, is announced.

September 2008
The first phone, the G1, is revealed, along with it the Android SDK. A
month later, it’s put on shelves and the code is made open to the
public. The smartphone is a well-lauded and welcomed rival to the
iPhone, and tech enthusiasts in particular are thrilled with its
functionality.

February 2009
Software upgrade Cupcake introduced.

September 2009
Software upgrade Donut introduced.

October 2009
Software upgrade Éclair is introduced.

November 2009
Android’s second phone, the Motorola Droid, hits stores and moves
100,000 units in its first weekend.

January 2010
The Nexus One is unveiled, with an Android platform – Google’s first
and only attempt at producing all components of the phone. Its’ launch
turns out to be disappointing and it’s unable to compete with the
iPhone and the Droid. Let’s be honest, the entire thing was a little
embarrassing.

May 2010
Google TV is introduced, built on Android and Chrome.

July-August 2010
Froyo (the latest software upgrade) is also released – although it
appears only a fraction of Android users are utilizing it.

September 2010
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is released, and gives the iPad some stuff
competition – and even outperforms it in a few categories. It’s
expected to sell 1 million units in 2010.

October 2010
Two years after its debut, the Android Market reaches 100,000 apps.
