Review: Motorola Droid 2 from Verizon

Summary
It's been almost a year since the original Motorola Droid hit stores.

The Droid 2 has a new processor and it ships with Android 2.2, which
offers Flash Player 10.1. At the same time, memory and storage get a
huge boost on the Droid 2. As it is, the keyboard is the top-tier
feature on the Droid 2.

The screen is large, and offers users a vivid display. Using the
Motorola Droid 2 is just as rich of an experience as it was on the
original Droid.

The Droid 2 is a solid and rounded offering. Overall, we would place
the Droid 2 between the Droid X and the HTC Incredible. If you need a
keyboard and want the additional storage and memory, then the Droid 2
is a thoroughly decent choice. Otherwise, the HTC Incredible is
currently Verizon's best phone, followed closely by the Droid X.

There is a winner for battery life!!

Summary
The Motorola Droid and the Dell Streak out-surfed a number of
Android-running devices in a battery-testing contest devised by Laptop
Magazine. Motorola's Droid X and Droid 2 smartphones, along with the
Dell Streak, came out on top of a battery-life contest for
Android-running handsets, recently devised by Laptop Magazine.

The test consisted of the devices running an Android application,
created by Laptop's Web director, that the magazine writes "opens the
phone's Web browser to one of 60 popular Websites, remains there for
60 seconds, closes the browser, then reopens the browser to the next
Website on the list. Dell included.

The Motorola Droid X was the big winner, with enough juice to run for

Android 2.2-Based HTC EVO 4G (Android Phone) Gets Rooted

Summary
The official Android 2.2 Froyo software update has started to arrive
on HTC EVO 4G handsets out there only a few weeks ago, yet it can be
already rooted, with specific details on the process now available
into the wild.

This would be the first time the high-end device gets rooted, with the
Android 2.1-based version of the handset being the first one to get
through this process.

All in all, the good news is that the Android 2.2 Froyo flavor of HTC
EVO 4G was rooted.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Official Video - Sneak preview

Samsung is coming out strong and trying to get the lion's share of Android tablet hype lately, with a grand debut scheduled for September's IFA conference in Berlin.

Samsung has released an official Galaxy Tab teaser video. See below:

http://galaxytab.samsungmobile.com/

http://galaxytab.samsungmobile.com/

Here are some of the facts (still in guessing stage):

Display, Design

Samsung's Galaxy Tab has a 7-inch screen. The tablet can be held in one hand, if your fingers are long enough.

Hardware

From the video, there's definitely a big camera on the back of the tablet (3.2 megapixels?),  a front-facing camera. Navigation and mapping apps are shown in the video, so GPS is a built-in. The same source that claims 800-by-480 resolution also said the Galaxy Tab has a 1 GHz processor and Bluetooth, based on leaked firmware.

Operating System

Samsung says Android 2.2 will be the Galaxy Tab's platform of choice, and confirms support for Adobe Flash. TouchWiz interface is not shown on the video.

Software Features

Here's a list of everything else Samsung mentions in the video :

    * E-reading
    * HD movie play
    * PC link web
    * Augmented reality

In addition, the video shows Swype support and an app called "AllShare," which looks like a way to sync with multiple servers and displays.

Unknowns

Price and release date are big mysteries. The Samsung Galaxy Tab's big reveal is scheduled for September 2.

New phones offer more Android options

Summary
For those Android fans out there, both Verizon and AT&T have released
some new phones of note -- the Motorola Droid 2 and the Samsung
Captivate. Motorola Droid 2

With a touch screen, QWERTY keyboard and a growing Android Market full
of apps, it was a hit with smart-phone subscribers. The Droid 2 looks
almost exactly like the original Droid. Samsung Captivate
Even more confusing than the Droid 2 vs. Droid X conundrum is the
Samsung Captivate vs. Samsung Galaxy S thing.
All the phones are similar, and use Samsung's impressively clean and
sleek tweak to Android called TouchWiz.

Motorola Nails Smart Sequel With (Android Phone) Droid 2

Summary
If anything, the makeover from Droid to Droid 2 is more of a brow wax
than a face lift, which judging by the success of the original
version, and the ghastly results of many cosmetic surgery fiascoes, is
probably a good thing.

The slow shutter response makes pictures, especially those shot
indoors, grainy and unappealing. Easy upload to Facebook, Flickr,
Picasa, e-mail or Twitter makes sharing even bad pictures a breeze.

Even for those of us familiar with the original Droid, there was a
learning curve.

High call clarity and great reception mean you can actually use it as
a phone. Sound output is loud enough to play music for friends.
Lightning-fast internet browsing. Slide-out keypad is spacious and
easy to use.

Android Phone - Motorola Droid 2 Review

Motorola Droid 2 Android Phone Overview

It may not be easy to discern the new Motorola Droid 2 from its
first-generation sibling, the original Droid, but be assured that the
latest Android device for Verizon Wireless has enough firepower
lurking behind the scenes than one would surmise. First off, there's
more horsepower under the hood regarding processing and RAM. But the
Motorola Droid 2 bursts out of the starting gates running Android 2.2
Froyo, meaning all aspects of interface performance have been
improved. Along with the integration of Android's latest interface,
the Droid 2 boasts an improved battery life, which we tested, and
improved internal storage memory. While we weren't crazy about the
Droid 2's camera, this phone offered enough upgrades to take our
original Droid experience to the next level.

Huawei.

I would bet my bottom dollar on Motorola Android Phone up against Iphone

Summary
I would bet my bottom dollar on Motorola, or better yet, the dynamic
duo of Motorola and Verizon.

Despite the unending--and well deserved--hoopla surrounding the iPad,
there's always plenty of room for a decent alternative, as the Droid
proves. And, surprisingly, no decent iPad alternative exists (i.e.,
slapping Android on a sloppy clone of the iPad is not a viable
strategy against the iPad).

Motorola's Droid was one of the first high-end smartphones to emerge
as a bona fide rival to the iPhone. Then came the Droid X, another
capable competitor. And most recently, the Droid 2. And I would submit
that the Droid X is a dry run for a tablet, with its galactic (by
smartphone standards) 4.3-inch diagonal screen. HTC, of course, is a
major force too. But any Google-HTC marketing model along the lines of
the now-defunct Google Nexus One won't, by itself, rival the iPad.
(The Dell Streak isn't much bigger than the Droid X and, so, isn't a
tablet by iPad standards.)

Is GSM Motorola Droid X coming?

Engadget claimed that the Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global Edition are one

that the Motorola Droid Pro is the global version of the Motorola

means Motorola Droid Pro is Milestone 2.

DROID X - Leaked Android 2.2 Froyo ROM

Summary
DROID X by Motorola has received a leaked Android 2.2 Froyo ROM on
Friday, and some enthusiasts already downloaded and installed it on
their devices, just to see how the two get along ahead of the arrival
of the official software from Verizon and Motorola.
Other than that, the leaked ROM is said to pack all of the
enhancements Google announced for the new Android 2.2 Froyo OS
version.
The new platform version also brings along a nice range of performance
enhancements, and DROID X users would certainly enjoy having them on
their devices.

Are you buying Android Phone? Some guide here

Summary
Buying an Android phone is more challenging, but potentially also more
rewarding. Whether you're looking for a palm-spanning multimedia
powerhouse or just a compact, competent smart phone, there's an
Android handset for you.

But not every Android phone is created equal. A good place to start is
to look at the version of Android a phone is running. Rampant display
inflation means that 89mm (3.5 inches) is now nothing special, 94mm
(3.7 inches) is the norm, and there's a bevy of fabric-bulging 109mm
(4.3-inch) screens.

Think twice before buying any phone with less than a 320x480-pixel
resolution -- squinting at the screen eliminates virtually all of
Android's cool factor.

Cheaper Android phones tend to have resistive touchscreens. Capacitive
screens are faster, more responsive and offer true multi-touch
capabilities. Now check out five of the best Android phones reviewed
here at CNET UK.

Sony is into Android Gaming!

Summary:

It seems that Sony Ericsson -- a company that has yet to even
introduce an Android 2.0 device -- is at work on a project to redefine
gaming on Google's mobile platform. The phone is mostly black with
some silver highlights, and the gamepad area is white / silver in
color. Apparently it's currently branded as a Xperia device, but it
looks like it will carry PlayStation branding as well. Those who've
seen the phone say it looks "pretty damn sexy." On the software side,
it looks like the device will be running Gingerbread (Android 3.0)
with a phone-specific skin, and there will be a new area of the
Android Market specifically for the games. Games will be graphically
in the range of PSX or PSP games, meaning true 3D gaming is headed to
Android.

All About Android handphone

Android handphone is like having a robot or synthetic organism as operating system which is the brain of the handphone or mobile phones.

An android is a robot or synthetic organism designed to look and act like a human. Until recently, androids have largely remained within the domain of science fiction, frequently seen in film and television.
